Torres Novas biomethane plant (Árgea)
A Gasdaterra (Gás da Terra) plant for about 97,900 t/yr of livestock effluent and farm waste, about 200 m from homes. Entroncamento's municipal assembly and eight Médio Tejo mayors, including Torres Novas's, oppose it.

According to the non-technical summary of the environmental impact study, the plant would treat 97,892 t/yr of feedstock (about 268 t/day) on a 4.8 ha site and produce 742.7 Nm³/h of biomethane for injection into Floene's grid through a 1,325 m pipeline. The feedstock would be pig and cattle slurry, manure, olive pomace and vegetable waste.
The public consultation on the Participa portal ran from 13 May to 3 July 2026 and received 429 submissions. Quercus asked for an unfavourable decision and Entroncamento's municipal assembly unanimously asked the APA to reject the project.
The Movimento Defender Árgea e Aldeias Vizinhas and Médio Tejo users' committees held vigils and marches. Residents say they could go to court. In October 2026 the Torres Novas and Alenquer movements jointly asked the APA, CCDR-LVT and the Government to refuse authorisation.
