Sousel biomethane plant
A RegaAlentejo plant for 271,500 t/yr of livestock effluent, with homes about 430 m and 750 m away. The evaluation committee noted that the study had no odour baseline at homes and required an odour monitoring plan.

The plant would treat 271,500 t/yr of cattle, pig, horse and sheep effluent and produce about 15 million Nm³/yr of biomethane on an 8.55 ha site. The announced investment is over €40 million. The biomethane would be trucked to a REN station in Monforte.
The public consultation ran from 16 January to 26 February 2026. ZERO gave an unfavourable opinion, arguing that the benefits are not shown and that the Biomethane Atlas should come first. The evaluation committee's opinion is favourable with conditions, but we have not located the final text of the environmental impact declaration.
