Abrigada biomethane plant (Marés, Alenquer)
A project by SGDT 1001, Unipessoal (presented as a Gás da Terra project) for about 84,000 t/yr of effluent and animal by-products, 400–500 m from homes. The Câmara gave an unfavourable opinion and the municipal assembly unanimously declared it of no municipal interest.

The plant would treat about 230 t/day (84,000 t/yr) of farm effluent and produce biomethane and a "biofertiliser", with a €20.5 million investment and about 7 direct jobs. The promoter expects the environmental impact decision in mid-2027.
The public consultation on Participa ran from 19 August to 29 September 2026, with 417 submissions. The Câmara Municipal gave an unfavourable opinion, citing undemonstrated odour control, road safety on the EN1/IC2 and the lack of analysis of alternative sites further from homes. Quercus also gave an unfavourable opinion.
The Movimento de Cidadãos de Abrigada, Marés e Ota gathered about 900 signatures on paper and 1,400 online, and about 100 people protested in September, joined by the mayor. On 24 September the municipal assembly unanimously declared the project of no municipal interest.
